JUSTINE DAMOND: KILLED BY “ISLAMOPHOBIA”

If this had been a Muslim woman (especially a black Muslim woman) killed this way by a cop (especially a white cop) we would NEVER hear the end of it. There would be protests all over the world, maybe even riots. Celebrities would be all over this. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Oprah Winfrey would be on our TV screens day and night, condemning it. And they would be right in condemning the act, though I'm sure wrong in assuming the motives/reasons..

But because it was a white, non-Muslim woman killed by a Somalian, Muslim cop, there will be nothing of the sort. This story will quietly disappear from public view. Everyone will soon forget it like it never happened. Everyone, that is, except her shattered family and friends.

As Robert Spencer says in the article, and from the information I've seen, it doesn't seem to be a jihad attack.

Let me repeat that. Right now, it does not seem like this was a jihad attack. Just because a Muslim does it, does not necessarily mean it was jihad. Get that straight, My Side! When it comes to this issue (and others) you can be just as knee-jerk and outright stupid as the liberals.

I don't give a rat's tail whose "side" does and says what. I don't defend people's comments just because they are on "my side" of any issue. What I care about is facts. And from the facts I see thus far, it doesn't seem it was a jihad attack.

What does seem clear is that this man had no business being a police officer. But because Islam has gained Most Favored Status in this country, he was given this job. Now an innocent woman is dead. Needlessly dead, since this story makes very little sense in the way events played out.*

Multiculturalism at its finest.

What a disgrace.

* As always, and in all fairness, if more/different information later comes out, it may impact the story and my views on it. My comments here are based on what I know at this time.

* On Fairy Stories - J.R.R. Tolkien

I've found that it helps me relax when I watch a light and/or funny show before going to bed. My show of choice the past few weeks has been Dragons: Race to the Edge. I saw some of the original, How to Train Your Dragon movie with the kids I used to watch. (It still makes me sad to say that.) I'm not sure if we watched the whole thing at the time. I never saw the second movie. Has anyone read the books?

Anyway, I happened upon this quite by accident on Netflix. I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised at how well done and enjoyable it is! The characters are all so well developed that you feel like you're watching a live action movie, not a cartoon. And while the dragons have their personalities, they are not "Disney-fied", in the sense that they talk or act too much like people. They are closer to pets and weapons than than the animals in most cartoons. I actually like that. It's a refreshing difference from the usual animal/magical creature sidekick that's been endlessly overdone in kids' movies.

Best of all, so far it hasn't been preachy about anything, there's been no politics, and no inappropriate sexual content. It's said that this even needs to be mentioned regarding a children's program. But that's the world we live in today.

This is just pure storytelling and adventure, with characters who so far seem to be good people. (Even the ones that don't get along. It's the usual "ragtag bunch of people have to work together" sort of thing. And that's just fine.

Best of all, DRAGONS!

I loved this!

Brother

When we were young
We were the ones
The kings and queens
Oh yeah, we ruled the world
We smoked cigarettes
Man no regrets
Wish I could relive
Every single word

We've taken different paths
And travelled different roads
I know we'll always end up on the same one when we're old
And when you're in the trenches
And you're under fire I will cover you

[Chorus]
If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I'd give you my lungs so you could breathe

I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er

[Verse 2]
Oh brother, we'll go deeper than the ink
Beneath the skin of our tattoos
Though we don't share the same blood
You're my brother and I love you
That's the truth

We're living different lives
Heaven only knows
If we'll make it back
With all our fingers and our toes
5 years, 20 years, come back
It will always be the same

[Chorus]
If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I would give you my lungs so you could breathe

I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er

[Post Chorus]
And if we hit on troubled water
I'll be the one to keep you warm and safe
And we'll be carrying each other
Until we say goodbye on our dying day

Because I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er

If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I would give you my lungs so you could breathe

[Outro]
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
I've got you brother-er-er-er
I've got you brother-er-er-er

I have zero interest in watching this show. Read the first book and was turned off. (Not to mention confused.) But this music is gorgeous. And the graphics are hilarious!  I didn't know he still played. I've just seen that video of him as a young boy.

Ben Shapiro: Political commentator, public speaker, writer and violin player. Not to mention a mind like a steel trap and a Faster!Talker than Lorelai and Rory put together. Those pesky Jews! Why do they always have all the talent?

Like many people, I happened to see a clip of her on America's Got Talent. I wanted to find a more "natural" performance, so I hit the YouTubes. She's got that gorgeous, powerful, belting voice that I've always wanted.

As always when I see talented kids, I hope that they get good training, have a strong family support system, and that they are not corrupted by the entertainment industry.

When I come across people like this (kids or adults, but especially the kids) I actually don't end up following them much. It breaks my heart to see them go from awkward beginnings to so over-polished, and then either self-destruct, or are destroyed by the industry itself. They start off looking like the kids they are, and then next thing you know they are half naked and/or airbrushed on the cover of magazine, and soon into drugs or just crazy Hollywood life.  Or if they manage to survive that, they hit an older age and are no longer wanted by the market for whatever reason. We've seen this tragic tale over and over again.

This gorgeous, innocent looking young girl is so gifted. I hope she doesn't end up that way.
